Leo ni Halloween waswahili msiigize mkashererehekea msichojua

Haloween ni siku ya kipangani iliyoanzia huko Ireland ya Kaskazini kwa jamii ya Ki-celt ikiadhimisha mavuno. Baadaye sherehe hii ilitwaliwa na mataifa ya Ulaya na kuifanya rasmi kwa minajili ya kuuuza bidhaa hasa vinyago vya kutisha kwa wavaaji. Leo nimeona waswahili Dar wakiingiza kuadhimisha Black Friday bila kujua maana ya siku yenyewe na matusi dhidi ya weusi wao.  Hivyo, wakati wenzenu wanaadhimisha sherehe za miungu na mila zao, msikurupuke na kuonekana malimbukeni.

Lissugate: Call in foreign investigators

            After certain unknown dunces wanted to do Tundu Lissu in, there are still cries for justice to be delivered to the culprits. Lissu is suffering from pains inflicted on him by bêtes noires either motivated by their criminality or hired to finish him off thanks to his vocalness. Since this sacrilegious act was committed over a month ago, Lissu has been bedridden in Kenya.  As a result, his constituency doesn’t have a representative in parliament currently. His family is as well indescribably suffering. It is not easy to explain what Lissu and his family are going through. Any human created truly a human but not an accidentally whereby some animals look like humans, he or she will agree with me; Lissu and his family do not deserve what they are going through let alone their case to be ignored and forgotten by those entrusted with the duty to provide security for every Tanzanian regardless he is an opponent or otherwise.  While all these are going on, the hoodlums who freakishly attacked Lissu have never been zapped. Why? This is the question that has led me to think about bringing in the big gorillas from abroad. Tanzania won’t be the first to bring in some foreign forensic expert. Kenya did the same when its former foreign minister Robert Ouko died mysteriously in 1990. However, Kenya abandoned the investigation after a British investigator John Troon neared cornering sacred cows behind Ouko’s murder.
            Before the so-called unknown outlaws attacking him, Lissu had reported to the Tanzania Police Force which sadly did not take any substantive measures to prevent the attack. As a citizen who is constitutionally entitled to protection from the same force, Lissu didn’t only feel vulnerable but also betrayed. His trust in police has since evaporated. This is why he’s been treated in Kenya instead of Tanzania not just because there is no wherewithal.  He no longer trusts the institutions of his country. This is sad and surreal.  Demonstrably, Lissu’s family and his party think that to do justice for Lissu and the likes, the police must concur that it is no longer credible to do the job. When it comes to who should investigate this scandal I’d like to call Lissugate, the Tanzania’s police force has lost the believability since it failed or refused (as his family thinks) to work on the reports Lissu made before it. I for one, just like Lissu, his family and Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA) I would urge the police to do the right thing namely to stay aside and allow other international organs to conduct investigation in order to prove its innocence. First of all, why didn’t they take action after they were tipped off about the danger Lissu faced? Why has it taken long time to, at least, nab even a single member of the gang of unknown crooks? One newspaper reported recently that even the CCTV cameras on the crime of scene have been removed. Is this true; and if it is, why and why police are still keeping mum while they actually know that doing so is a crime resulting into tampering with evidence not to mention abetting the suspects?
            Sometimes, we need to be true to ourselves so as to allow those who listen to what we do by commission and omission or say to treat what we say to be true. For instance, the parliamentary Defense and Security Committee failed to table its report on the issue that was supposed to be out in the mid-September. Why? No one knows why except the committee and the authorities which up till now have never done anything substantial as far as investigating the crime is concerned. Thanks to this laxity, some foreign countries such as the UK and the US offered to help in investigating this carnage. As it seems, the authorities are not only tightlipped but also have been dragging feet. Why?
            Due to the fact that the police have proved that either they are unwilling or incompetent to look into Lissugate, it is time for Tanzania to welcome foreign firms to help crack the puzzle behind this seeming criminality.  There is no need to wait for being catcalled. So, too, there is no need of keeping the cart before the horse. If police have proved they cannot nab unknown criminals that made attempt on Lissu’s life, why should the public keep on trusting them that they will apprehend the criminals while as time elapses evidence too fades away? Indeed, Lissugate needs to be looked into by a neutral and professional bodies such as FBI or Scotland Yard among others.

Akina Majimarefu na Nkamia ni wa kuogopwa kama ukoma

            Kwa wale waliofuatilia namna mbunge wa Chemba Juma Nkamia alivyotaka kupeleka mswaada wa kubadili katiba ili rais wa Tanzania aongezewe muda wa kukaa madarakani na kurefusha muda huo toka miaka mitano hadi saba, watakubaliana nami kuwa jambo hili si aibu na pigo tu kwa taifa bali limepitwa na wakati. Wakati mwingine nashindwa kuelewa kama kweli wapenzi wa udikteta huu uchwara wanaamini haya wanayotaka tufanye. Sijui wanatumwa au wanajituma. Sijui wanajipendekeza au wanapendekeza; hata sijui kusema ukweli.
            Tanzania ina watu wengi wanaoweza kuongoza nchi. Nani alijua kuwa atatokea John Magufuli na kufanya anayofanya kiasi cha dunia nzima kushikwa na kihoro? Mama zetu bado wanazaa watu wenye akili lakini si mataahira wasioweza kuongoza nchi yao. Hawa wanaotoa mapendekezo ya ajabu ajabu wakilenga kujipendekeza lau wateuliwe, wanapoteza muda. Kwa wanaomjua rais Magufuli, hatawateua na wala hawatamtumia kufikia malengo yao binafsi. Sidhani kama Magufuli anapenda watu wasiojiamini, wala wasiosoma alama za nyakati wakaacha kufikiri sawa sawa na kuchapa vilivyo wakaendekeza kujikombakomba na kujipendekeza.
            Watu wanaotaka kujipendekeza, kama wale waaandishi wa habari waliojipendekeza utawala uliopita wakazawadiwa vyeo, kwa utawala wa sasa wanakosea. Tunawasoma wengi waliogeuza magezeti yao waimbaji kwaya wakidhani dhamira zao chafu hazijulikani.  Inakuwa jambo baya sana hasa pale mwakilishi wa wananchi anapojichafua kiasi hiki. Licha ya kuwa aibu, ni hasara kuwa na wawakilishi hata wasiosoma historia ya nchi yao na ya dunia huku wakishindwa kusoma alama za nyakati. Tanzania si nchi ya kutawaliwa na mtu mmoja kama viinchi vingine vya hovyo vilivyotekwa nyara na maimla tokana na kuogopa kuondoka ili madhambi yao yasianikwe.  Sijui kwanini hawa wanaodai kuwa tubadili katiba wanashindwa kujua jambo lililotokea wakiwa watu wazima pale ambapo marehemu baba wa taifa Mwl Julius Nyerere alipoombwa asiachie madaraka mwaka 1985 akakataa. Tena kwa wakati ule, chini ya siasa za vita baridi, Nyerere angekuwa mpenda madaraka, angeweza kuendelea kuongoza hadi kufia madarakani. Ila kwa vile Nyerere aliheshimu watu wake kama watu wenye akili sawa sawa na wasio na ukapa wa mawazo wala watu wa kuwaongoza, aliamua kuwapuuzia wote waliokuwa wanamshauri upumbavu.
            Wakati akina Nkamia wakijikomba na kujidhalilisha, rais Magufuli ameonyesha mwelekeo kama kiongozi mkuu wa taifa. Kwani, amesema wazi wazi kuwa hana mpango wa kubadili katiba.  Akimjibu mbunge wa Korogwe Vijijini Stephen Ngonyani, Magufuli alikaririwa akisema “ndugu yangu Majimarefu, uliposema niongezewe miaka 20 nilikuelewa kuwa unaniombea niishi miaka 20 ijayo.”kwa watu wenye akili sawa sawa, jibu hili lilitosha kuwakata kilimilimili na kusahau ghilba yao ya kutaka kumtumia rais kufikia malengo yao binafsi.
             Tunampongeza kwa dhati kwa kuwaumbua wajinga wasiotaka na kukubali kujifunza kuwa dunia ya sasa si ya kuanzisha utawala wa kifalme. Kwanini watu wa namna hii hawataki kuelewa asili ya mwanadamu kuwa ni kiumbe wa muda? Mnaweza kubadili katiba hata mkasema rais fulani atawale miaka mia. Je ataweza? Wako wapi madikteta kama vile Hastings Kamuzu Banda (Malawi), Felix Houphouet-Boigny (Ivory Coast), Jean-Bedel Bokassa (CAR) Joseph Mobutu (DRC) Gnassingbe Eyadema (Togo) na Omar Bongo  (Gabon) ukiachia wachache waliobakia wakiaibika na kuhangaika utadhani hawatakufa? Ni upuuzi kiasi gani kwa binadamu ambaye ni tunda la msimu kufikiri anaweza kuishi muda mrefu kama udongo au jiwe? Hata rais wetu angekuwa mti usiozeeka haraka, tusingekubali kudhalilishwa kiakili kwa kubadili katiba kwa maslahi ya mtu mmoja.
            Hata hivyo, Tanzania bado ina watu wenye akili timamu na wanaosoma alama za nyakati. Mmojawapo ni Pius Msekwa aliyekaririwa akisema “ni kwamba miaka kumi tu inatosha, ili kama mtu ni mbaya tuvumilie kwa hiyo miaka kumi na siyo kwamba haikufikiriwa. Na sidhani kama CCM itakuwa na nafasi ya kujadili hilo kwa sasa.”  Pamoja na pendekezo la Nkamia kuchefua na kutokubalika, alikaririwa akisema “naomba ibaki hivyo hivyo kama ilivyo kwenye meseji sina cha kuongeza, kuhusu ni lini nitapeleka tena nayo subiri kwa sababu nimesema nimesitisha kwa muda, maana yake nitawasilisha tena nitakapokuwa tayari.” Hii maana yake ni kwamba Nkamia amekamia kuendelea kutuchefua roho wakati rais mwenyewe anayelenga kumpigia debe na kutaka kumuingiza kwenye ujinga huu alishasema wazi kuwa hana mpango huu wa kipumbavu.
            Akitetea hoja yake isiyo na mashiko Nkamia alikaririwa akihoji kuwa kuna ubaya gani kuongeza muda hadi miaka saba wakati jirani zetu wa Rwanda wanafanya hivyo? Kwanza, inaonekana Nkamia hajui ni kwanini Rwanda wamefanya hivyo. Pili, huwezi kuilinganisha Tanzania na Rwanda kidemokrasia hata kihistoria.  Rwanda wameamua kuwa na miaka saba na kuondoa hata ukomo wa rais kutokana na matatizo yao ya vita vya kikabila ambalo si tatizo la Tanzania.
            Kwa mtu anayejua maana ya demokrasia, hawezi kuilinganisha Tanzania na nchi yoyote katika Afrika Mashariki hata Afrika ukiondoa nchi chache kama vile Afrika ya Kusini, Botswana, Zambia, Msumbiji na nyingine ambazo, kwa kiasi fulani, demokrasia yao inakua na kuleta maana.
            Tumalizie kwa kumtaka rais Magufuli awaonye hawa wanaotaka kurejesha nchi yetu nyuma wakitaka kufanikisha ujinga na maslahi binafsi. Wakome na kukomaa.

Open letter to Kenyatta and Odinga

Dear President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Premier Raila Odinga,
            First of all, I must introduce myself. I am not Kenyan. Instead, I am African, Africanist, Pan-Africanist, East African and Tanzania. Again, as Swahili sage has it that aliyeko nje ya uwanja anauona vizuri mchezo namely the spectators can nicely tell how the game was played, I am in the position of seeing things Kenyans cannot easily see; and if they see they do so differently from myself due to the fact that I am not a party to the ongoing imbroglio. I therefore pray for your attention underscoring the fact that I do not have any stake in your politics except the regional peace and prosperity. I am thus writing as a friend of Kenya, a neighbour and a member of the family of the East African Community (EAC).
            Allow me to humbly address you as follows:
First, let me congratulate you on completing the August 8 elections peacefully; and following the law in settling your political differences.
Second, let me tell you this.  Kenyans did their bit in the said elections by voting peacefully and massively. So, too, did the court that constitutionally entertained and looked into your grievances so as to come up with the annulment of the results of the said elections; sad however it may be. Now that the presidential results were annulled due to what the Supreme Court of Kenya termed as ‘illegalities and irregularities’ which sent Kenya back to the drawing board, please, as Kenyans and leaders, show exemplary leadership by seeking modus vivendi that will pull Kenya out of the impasse it is into.
 I know; power is sweet and beautiful. Again, Kenya is sweeter and more important than powers individuals seek. So, please put your dynastic and political competition aside; and put and think about Kenya first. Kenyans showed commendable peacefulness during voting and exemplary patience during the time of waiting for the results; and thereafter waiting for the Supreme Court to come up with its verdict. So, too, Kenyans have showed patience in the entire ominous period of waiting for the rerun. However, by the look of things, Kenyans’ patience is wearing thin due to your political rancour and scuffles. Recent demos and altercations are but a sign of what is store for the country shall sanity not prevail.  There’s understanding in Conflict Resolution field that there is an opportunity in conflict; if patties to it decided to seek it. You, too, still have an opportunity to turn the ongoing impasse into an opportunity for Kenya and Africa. Please make Africa, Kenya and yourselves proud.  Instead of baying for each other’s blood, turn your swords into ploughshares. Swahili sage has it that when two people compete, there is a winner and a loser. In this case in point, I would love to see a winner being Kenya and a loser being nobody.  Kenya will always be there contrary to humans who are there to pass.
I fully and sincere understand; you all would like to win; and become president of this beautiful country. Again, there cannot be two presidents in one country. Therefore, as statesmen, you must allow democracy to apply so that Kenya can get one president. I don’t think that Kenyans deserve evidencing two bulls fighting to end up suffering the fate of the grasses. Kenyans have offered their love to their country by fulfilling their constitutional duty. Now it is your turn to reciprocate positively by averting the country from cascading into the abyss pointlessly and wantonly simply because you cannot agree to disagree and see to it that Kenya is moving forward.
At this time one thing is needed, true love to the nation but not to power. I implore you to invoke the wisdom of one of the two women who were fighting over the ownership of a baby or power in this respect. When the true mother was told that King Solomon the wise, decided that the baby be split down in the middle so that every woman would take her half, the true mother conceded defeat in order to let the baby survive. The baby in this regard is Kenya; and the mother is you two. I do not say that you must forgo your rights. Instead, I pray that you wise up and come up with the solution to the ongoing imbroglio. For example, stop intimidating each other i.e. cutting some services such as security.  Restrict your followers. Tell them the importance of peace for Kenya and the region. Distance yourselves from trading insults and the use of denting language of calling each other names. Consider the future of Kenya in your absence not to forget your legacies as the leaders of the nation.
God bless Kenya, God bless Africa God rein and show Kenya, Kenyans and their leaders the right choice and way.

Kuna dawa moja ya kukomesha ufisadi nchini


            Hakuna ubishi. Kwa sasa, rais John Magufuli ni rais anayechukiwa sana kuliko na mafisadi na waliozoea kutajirika bila kufuata utaratibu kuliko rais yeyote wa Tanzania. Vita ya kupigiwa mfano aliyoanzisha dhidi ya ufisadi, pamoja na baadhi ya mapungufu, inafanya aonekane mbaya. Kwa sababu ametia mchanga kitumbua cha baadhi ya watu nchini. Kukamatwa kwa vigogo wa kashfa ya IPTL-Escow ni mfano mzuri hapa. Sidhani kama waathirika na wategemezi na washirika zao wanafurahia kinachoendelea. Uzuri, Magufuli analitambua hilo kiasi cha kuchukua hatua na tahadhari. Hata hivyo, kuna mambo akiyafanya rais Magufuli, atazidi kuwa mwalimu na kivutio duniani juu ya namna bora ya kuendesha nchi. Magufuli anachukiwa sana kutokana na tawala zilizopita kuhalalisha ufisadi kwa mlango wa nyuma bila kujua madhara yake kwa taifa.
            Katika safu hii leo nitatoa ushauri kwa rais Magufuli. Naamini ataupata ima kwa kusoma mwenyewe au watu wake ambao wana uwezo wa kufungia magazeti pale yanapoandika kisichotakiwa. Ufuatao ndiyo ushauri wangu kuhusiana na namna ya kisayansi ya kupambana; na hatimaye kuushinda ufisadi, wizi wa mali ya umma, uuzaji mihadarati na jinai nyingine nyingi zinazomhangaisha rais Magufuli.
            Rejesha sheria ya maadili. Kila mtanzania awajibike kisheria kueleza utajiri alio nao na namna alivyouchuma. Hapa lazima kila mtanzania kujaza taarifa zake za kodi kila mwaka ili kuona kama kinachotangazwa kinalingana na kile anachopaswa kuwa nacho kihalali kwa mujibu wa kumbukumbu za kodi. Hili litaondoa motisha wa watanzania kujiingiza kwenye jinai za kusaka utajiri ambapo ilikuwa jambo la kawaida kwa mtu kulala maskini na kuamka tajiri bila kuulizwa. Wengi walizoea kutuibia na kutumia utajiri wetu kutukoga huku wengi tukijua walichofanya kufikia ukwasi huu.
            Serikali ya awamu ya kwanza ilitumia utaratibu huu kuondoa uoza kama vile uuzaji mihadarati, wizi wa mali za umma, ujambazi na ufisadi katika taifa. Kwani, hapakuwa na namna yoyote ya mtanzania kuchuma na kula bila stahiki. Mfano, viongozi wa umma wawe wa kisiasa au kiroho au wa namna yoyote, wasiruhusiwe kuwa na mishahara miwili wala kufanya siasa au dini na biashara. Hili licha ya kuondoa ubinafsi, litaondoa au kupunguza ukosefu wa kazi kwa vijana wetu wanaohitimu kwa maelfu wakaishia kushawishika kujiingiza kwenye jinai kama mihadarati na wizi hata umalaya kwa wale wa kike.
            Kuzuia mianya yote ya kupata kipato au utajiri bila kutoa jasho au kwa njia yoyote haramu kutaondoa na kadhia nyingine iliyokuwa imeanza kuzoeleka yaani uvivu na kupoteza muda kwa baadhi ya watanzania hasa wafanyakazi katika ofisi za umma.  Kwani, kuna watu ni matajiri lakini hawajulikani wanafanya kazi gani. Kukosekana kwa sheria iliyokuwa ikiwataka waeleze walivyochuma kulikuwa motisha tosha kwa baadhi ya wahalifu kuvunja sheria na kujiingiza kwenye jinai mbali mbali kama zilivyotajwa hapo juu. Hii haivumiliki hasa kwa taifa ambalo lilikuwa linaelekea kujiangamiza lenyewe tokana na kuachia mambo yajiendee.
            Pamoja na kuwa na sheria inayowataka watanzania kutoa taarifa za utajiri wao kwa lazima siyo kutaka, lazima ziwepo taasisi za siri za kuwachunguza na kuchunguzana huku wananchi nao wakiwa sehemu ya macho ya umma dhidi ya ufisadi au upatikanaji mali kiharamu. Hili ni muhimu ukiachia mbali ufuatiliaji na utaratibu unaoeleweka wa kufanya ukaguzi wa mara kwa mara wa mali za watanzania. Tokana na uzoefu uliopo ambapo baadhi ya watu wanaweza kupendelewa kutokana na ukaribu wao na wakubwa, kuna haja ya kuwa na sheria za wazi ambapo kitu kama hiki kitatokea iruhusu mwananchi yeyote kwenda mahakamani kushughulikia kadhia hii.  Tukitumia uzoefu tulioupata kwenye zoezi la kufichua na kupambana na walioghushi vyeti vya kitaaluma au kutumia majina ya wengine, lazima kuwepo na mfumo unaoweza kumbana yeyote mali zake zinapotuhumiwa kupatikana bila stahiki bila kujali ukubwa wa cheo chake au ukaribu wake kwa wenye madaraka.
            Uchochoro uliobakia kwa mfumo wa kifisadi nchini ni ukosefu wa sheria ya maadili ambayo nayo haiwezekani kuwa na maana wala makali bila kuwa na katiba mpya ambayo watanzania waliitaka na wanaihitaji pamoja na  wakubwa wachache waliowahi kutenda uovu kuiua ili wasiishie mikononi mwa vyombo vya dola. Hivyo, namna mojawapo kwa Tanzania kuondokana na ufisadi uliokithiri ni kuwa na katiba mpya ambayo inaweka wazi namna ya kupambana na kushughulikia ufisadi nchini. Hivyo, tunaishauri serikali kupambana vita inayoonyesha wazi haitashinda wala kulalamika bali irejee mchakato wa kupata katiba mpya ili iwe nyenzo muhimu katika kupambana na ufisadi. Kwa yeyote anayeitakia Tanzania mafanikio, awe mwananchi wa kawaida au kiongozi, anapaswa kuliona hili vinginevyo kushindwa kuwa na katiba mpya na sheria ya maadili ni kufuga ufisadi huku tukiulalamikia wakati tunaogopa kuchukua hatua za kisayansi kupambana nao.

Kijiwe chatamani Tunduni angekuwa mgeshi

           Baada ya kungoja kwa muda mrefu kusikia kuwa washenzi waliotaka kumnyotoa roho mhishimiwa totoTunduni Lissu bila majibu, kijiwe kimeamua kutoa angalizo.
            Mgoshi Machungi anaingia akiwa anaonyesha wazi ana jambo linalomkera. Anaamkua, kuagiza kahawa yake na kusema “hivi inakuwaje hatisikii wae waiotaka kumnyotoa roho totoTunduni Issu wanageuka inshu kiasi cha kutonyakwa pamoja na unyama wao?  Hakuna kimetishangaza kama Munene na timu yake waivoitikia. Je tifanye nini au kunani jamani?”
            Kapende anakula mic “hata mimi nashangaa kuona namna alivyojihimu na kujilawa pale mgeshi mstaafu alivyopiga shaba. Huenda huyu Tunduni angelipata top priority kama ilivyotokea kwa mgeshi husika. Hata hivyo, sijaelewi namna mgeshi anavyoweza kuwa muhimu kuliko muishiwa.  Unadhani angekuwa ndata, wenzake wangelishindwa kuwanyaka wale waliomfanyia kitu mbaya. Na kama angekuwa munene, wote wangemwabudia na kumuogopa hata kama ni kinafiki na kwa woga.”
           Mijjinga  anaamua kutia timu “hata mie nashangaa sana. Maana tangu amiminiwe shaba Tunduni, sijasikia chama twawala kikifanya mandingo lau kutuma ujumbe rasmi kwenda Nairoberry kumujulia hali.  Hii inatisha na kusikitisha. Twapelekeshwa wapi ambapo sihasa inageuka uhasama.”           Kabla ya kuendelea Sofia Lion aka Kanungaembe anamchomekea “namna wanene walivyoshughulikia kashfa hii, licha ya kuwa aibu, inaonesha kuna namna. Hivi kweli Tunduni angekuwa mhishimiwa wa twawala wangekaa kimya hivi? Wameshindwa hata kutoa tamko hata kwenye vyombo vya umbea! Nani hataonja mauti huyu nimsujudie?”
            Mheshimiwa Bwege hataki kupitwa leo. Anakula mic “wafanye wafanyavyo ila kul nafsin zalikatu mauti yaani kila nafsi itaonja mauti. Kama wababe kama Farao aka Filauni na Nabukadnezza walionja mauti, nani atasalia zaidi ya kujilisha pepo tokana na ujuha na usahaulifu? Kama Nelson Mandela, Mzee Mchonga na wengine walipotea, nani huyu mjanja na shujaa atabakia? Shame on them all! Sijui wadanganyhika twapelekeshwa na kupelekwa wapi kiasi cha kuanza kuhukumiana na kujaliana au kutojaliana tokana na imani zao za kisiasa? Inatisha na kuhuzunisha; sina mfano.”
            Mpemba anarejea “hata mie sielewi wallahi.  Yaani mhishimiwa mzima anamiminiwa shaba na washenzi waliofanya hivi hawashikwi! Yethu! Laillah illa Allah! Ni sheitwan gani ametuingilia hivi kiasi cha kukosa mwelekeo huruma na utu!  Hii yashangaza, kutisha na kutia shaka wallahi.”
            Mipawa anaamua kutia guu “namuona Tunduni kama mdogo wangu, ndugu yangu, mbongo mwenzangu na binadamu mwenzangu anayepaswa kuhurumiwa sawa nami au yeyote yakimkuta kuhusisha hata hawa wauaji na washenzi waliotaka kumnyotoa roho bila sababu zaidi ya woga na upumbavu wao. Najitahidi kuvaa viatu vya Tunduni nimdeku mkewe na watoto na ndugu na mashabiki wake ukiachia mbali wenzake. Simdeku Tunduni sawa na nguruwe waliomuumiza.” Anakohoa na kuendelea “namuona kama mwanaume, baba, mwana, raia, binadamu na asiye na hatia kama mimi na wewe na wao. Namuona Tunduni kama ninavyojiona na kukuona wewe.  Laiti wengi–hasa wale waliotaka afe–wangevaa viatu vyangu na vyake na kuondoa upumbavu wao, naamini unyama aliofanyiwa usingetokea.”
           Kabla ya kuendelea Msomi Mkatatamaa anakula mic “Usemayo mazito na kweli. Hivi Tunduni angekuwa ndata, kweli nguruwe na wanaharamu waliomshambulia wangekuwa bado uraiani wakifaidi malipo ya jinai yao? Hata hivyo, sitakata tamaa. Kwani, malipo ni hapa hapa duniani. Laiti binadamu angejaliwa kujua yanayomgoja–sina shaka–wahalifu waliomfanyia kitu mbaya Tunduni wangelia na kusaga meno na kuchelea kutenda unyama waliotenda tokana na upumbavu na upofu na upogo wao. Hawa waliommimia shaba Tunduni au waliowatuma wangekuwa wanaume kama si watoto si riziki, wasingetenda unyama waliotenda. Hata nguruwe–pamoja na uchafu na udogo wa ubongo wake–asingeweza kutenda upumbavu na unyama huu.”
           Kanji hataki apitwe. Anachumpa “mimi tamani Tunduni ive jesi. Kama nakuva nene navezajali yeye sana. Kama nakuva hiyo vote hata nene naabudia yeye. Mimi sangaa sana hapana nene yoyote nakwenda Nairobi ona yeye kwanini? Sasa kama natibiva Bmbei navesa sema mbali au nakwenda fanya shopping.”
            Mheshimiwa Bwege anaamua kurejea “hawa kweli wanashangaza kama alivyosema Kanji. Wako wapi akina nduli Amin, Gaddafi, Hitler na Mussolini? Wako wapi akina Osami bin Ladin na Mura Umar? Wako wapi akina Augustine Pinochet?  Wako wapi akina baby na papa Duvallier? Wako wapi akina Samuel Kanyon Doe? Nambie. Wako wapi akina Botha the Croc? Wako wapi akina Pol Pot wa Kampuchea na mahabithi wengine wengi waliofanya unyama usiomithalika? Binadamu ni nini zaidi ya kuwa manii na matope?”
             Anapiga chafya na kuendelea “leo naongea kifalsafa kama mzee Mchonga tunayeadhimisha miaka 18 ya kifo chake kama si Mandela au Nkrumah na Lumumba. Wamanga husema: pen is mightier than a sword japo sisi tumebadili ukweli huu na kuuweka kinyume kiasi cha wageshi kuwa muhimu kuliko wahishimiwa.”
           Msomi anamchomekea “tunapaswa kujenga kaya ya usawa bila kujali tunayemjali ni mgeshi au mhishimiwa, msukuma mkokoteni au rubani au mtumwa na bwana na mtawaliwa na mfalme. Wote tulizaliwa uchi; na siku moja tutatoweka na kugeuka matope na kusahaulika. Tutendeeni haki mkijua kuwa ujivuni na ukatili havilipi; na malipo ni hapa hapa duniani.”

Shambulizi dhidi ya Lissu litaigharimu serikali

            Shambulio la kishenzi dhidi ya maisha ya mbunge wa Singida Mashariki (CHADEMA) Tundu Lissu limegeuka kongwa kwenye shingo ya serikali. Hii ni kutokana na namna shambulio lilivyofanyika; na namna vyombo vya usalama vilivyolishughulika kwa kutolishughulikia. Mpaka sasa, hakuna anayejua kinachoendelea ukiachia mbali kutokuwepo kwa taarifa za kukamatwa kwa mtuhumiwa yoyote kuhusiana na kadhia hii. Kimsingi, hii inalitia taifa kwenye kona mbaya hasa tokana na kujengeka hisia kuwa mamlaka yameamua kulichukulia, ima kimzahamzaha au kutokuwa na uwezo wa kufanya lolote.
            Kutokana na ukimya uliotawala, wapo walioanza kulitumia ima kwa manufaa yao kisiasa au kwa kutaka haki itendeke. Mfano wa hivi karibuni ni kuitwa polisi kwa Katibu wa Jumuiya na Taasisi za Kiislamu Tanzania Ponda Issa Ponda tokana na msimamo wake dhidi ya kadhia ya kushambuliwa Lissu. Hili kidogo linachanganya. Kosa analotuhumiwa kulitenda Ponda ni kutoa lugha za kichechozi. Kwanza, lugha za kichochezi maana yake ni nini? Je inawezekana kuwachochea watu wenye akili zao kufanya vurugu au kuvunja sheria bila kuwa na sababu ya kufanya hivyo?
            Pili, kwa hali inavyoendelea, serikali inaweza kujikuta pabaya hasa ikizingatiwa wapo wanaodhani kuwa haikulipa umuhimu tendo hili la jinai dhidi ya mwananchi wa Tanzania ambaye, kwa bahati mbaya, ni mwanasiasa wa upinzani ambaye anasifika kwa kuikosoa serikali jambo ambalo ni wajibu wake kisiasa kama mpinzani. Je kwanini serikali inapata kigugumizi ima kutoa maelezo yanayoingia akilini au kuwakamata watuhumiwa ambao ilishataarifiwa  kuhusiana na kumfuatilia Lissu kwa muda mrefu bila kushgulikiwa? Hali hii, inaweza kufanya wabaya wa serikali kujenga hoja kuwa ilishiriki shambulizi hili jambo ambalo, hata hivyo, halina ushahidi tokana na wahusika kuendelea kutokamatwa wala serikali kutoa maelezo yenye mashiko.  Mfano, hivi karibuni, Inspekta Jenerali wa Polisi (IGP) Simon Sirro alipoulizwa nini mikakati yake ya kuwasaka na kukamata waliomshambulia Lissu alikaririwa akisema “ahsante kwa swali lakini kwa hili sina majibu kwa sababu sitaki malumbano. Sisi tupo kwa ajili ya Watanzania wote ndiyo maana nchi ipo shwari. Mimi ndiye mkuu wa Jeshi la Polisi nchini na ninawajibika kuhakikisha raia na mali zao zinakuwa salama na kwa kweli ni salama. Kwa hiyo swali lako sina jibu”  Kiakili na kwa hali ilivyo tokana na unyeti wa suala husika, jibu la Sirro, licha ya kukosa mashiko na kukwepa kutoa suluhisho, halikutegemewa toka kwa mkuu wa taasisi iliyaominiwa usalama wa watanzania wote akiwamo Lissu. Hivi kweli, kama mkuu wa polisi anaotoa majibu ya kisiasa hivi, serikali itaepuka kulaumiwa?
            Tatu, inapaswa serikali ijue kuwa Lissu licha ya kuwa mtanzania anayepaswa kulindwa na vyombo husika vinavyolipwa mishahara toka kwenye kodi ya watanzania wakiwamo wapinzani, ina jukumu la kuwalinda na kuwahakikishia usalama watanzania bila ubaguzi wowote. Mfano mdogo wa karibuni ni kuenguliwa kwa mtangulizi wa Sirro, Ernest Mangu pale aliposhindwa kuzuia mauaji ya Kibiti yaliyotikisa taifa miezi michache iliyopita.  Nadhani ndiyo maana waandishi walimuuliza Sirro juu ya hali yake kama mkuu wa taasisi hii nyeti. Na hii si mara ya kwanza kwa Sirro kutoa majibu ya kisiasa na yasiyo ya kitaalamu. Kabla ya hapo, aliwahi kukaririwa akisema “yule kijana kwenye picha ukimwona yuko vizuri tu, sasa wanaposema anapata huduma ya kisaikolojia wakati kwenye magazeti anaonekana hii inatupa changamoto.” Alikuwa akijibu swali kuhusiana na jeshi la polisi kushindwa kumhoji dereva wa Lissu ambaye yuko Nairobi akitibiwa kisaikoloji tokana na trauma aliyopata wakati wa shambulio. Ni ajabu kwa mtu ambaye si mtaalamu wa magonjwa ya akili na trauma kutoa jibu la kisasa hivi. Sirro alijuaje kuwa dereva wa Lissu hakuathirika wakati yeye si mtaalamu wa masuala ya trauma? Picha pekee haiwezi kuonyesha hali ya ndani ya mhusika. Hivyo, ni makosa kutumia mwonekano wa picha kujibu masuala yanayoendelea kwenye kichwa cha mhusika. Mbali na hili, vyombo vya habari vilimkariri Sirro akisema kuwa ni aibu kwa mwanasiasa kutaka kumfundisha kazi askari anayetambua wajibu wake. Je kazi ya mwanasiasa ni ipi hasa pale inapobainika kuwa askari hakutimiza wajibu wake yaani kuwakamata waliomshambulia Lissu au kushindwa kutoa maelezo yanayoingia akilini? Sirro alionya kuwa wanasiasa wasiwafundishe siasa askari lakini yeye akaishia kutoa majibu hayo hayo ya kisiasa.
             Wakati Sirro akituhumu familia ya Lissu kutaka kufanya suala lake kuwa la kisiasa, msemaji wa familia Alute Mghwai alimshangaa Sirro na alikaririwa akisema “sisi hatupigi siasa ndiyo sababu tumeamua kushirikiana na serikali na hatuko tayari kuona suala hili linaendeshwa kisiasa lengo letu apone na ukweli ujulikane, hali ya Lissu isitumike kufanya siasa. Tunataka utaratibu wa kawaida ufuatwe bila kuingiza siasa.” Huu si ushauri mbaya wala wa kisiasa.
            Tumalizie na suala la kukamatwa Ponda. Je kosa la Ponda ni nini hasa ikizingatiwa kuwa kisheria, kusema kuwa alitoa lugha ya kichochezi haiingii akilini bila kueleza amevunja sheria kifungu gani. Ninachoona hapa, kuna uwezekano wa suala la Lissu likatumiwa kisiasa na pande zote jambo ambalo litazidi kuiweka pabaya serikali. Maana, kuna watakaojenga dhana kuwa haiwezekani serikali yenye kila nyenzo na vyombo vya upelelezi na usalama ishindwe na genge la wahalifu wachache pasiwepo namna. Shambulizi dhidi ya Lissu litaigharimu serikali isipokuwa makini na kuwakamta wahusika huku ikiwataka watendaji wake kuacha kutoa majibu ya hovyo na ya kisiasa.

Mlevi amkumbuka mzee Mchonga Nyerere

            Japo umelala kwenye pumziko la milele, naamini unaniona na kunisikia. Kama hutanisikia, wengine watanisikia.  Hivyo, sina shaka utasoma hii kitu ambayo nakuandikia wakati nikikumbuka mwaka wa 18 tangu ututoke kwa masikitiko makubwa.  Habari za huko? Je ulishaonana na akina Nelson Mandela, Sir Ketumile Masire na kijana wako John Garang de Mabior yule wa Sudan uliyemsaidia akasomea kule Lushoto? Basi baba, alifariki kwenye ajali ya kutatanisha akitokea kwa  M7. Kifo chake kilisababisha kifo cha Sudan. Kwani Sudan uliyoacha moja sasa imegawanyika kati ya Kaskazini na Kusini, Waafrika na Waarabu feki, Wakristo na Waislam bila kusahau Darfur na Nuba Mountains  ambazo nazo ziko matatani zikipanga kutengana na Sudan ya Kaskazini inayobagua waswahili wazi wazi wakati nao ni waswahili wanaoongea kimanga tu kinachowalewesha kiasi cha kujihisi wao si waswahili bali wamanga.
            Baba, je una habari yule kijana wako mwingine uliyemsaidia kule kwa Nduli Yoweri M7 bado yuko madarakani huku akiwa kwenye harakati za kubadili katiba ili aendelee kuwahenyesha walevi wa UG? Anataka kugeuka Kamuzu Banda wa kizazi hiki. Basi baba, siku hizi kubadili katiba ili kubakia madarakani imegeuka fasheni. Burundi na Rwanda walishabadili zao. Kama nilivyosema, UG ndiyo hiyo iko mbioni. Hapa kwetu bado. Wapo wapuuzi fulani walifikia hata kupeleka mswaada Mjengoni wakitaka ukomo wa urahis uondolewe.  Baba, tena kabla sijasahau, una habari kuwa kwa sasa tuna rahis mpya aitwaye Joni Kanywaji Magu? Kijana huyu ni madhubuti sana pamoja na udhaifu kidogo. Kwani, tangu aingie pale Patakatifu pa Patakatifu, ameanza kuisafisha kaya kiasi cha mafisadi mapapa kuanza kunonihino kwenye debe.  Kijana amerejesha heshima ya kaya si haba. Kwani ninapokuandikia, Muhimbili kuna vitanda vya kutosha. Shule zote za Msingi zina madawati. Jamaa amebana matumizi.  Hataki kuzurura kama yale mabalaa mawili moja ulilopiga tafu na jingine ulilopiga chini  yalivyokuwa yakizurura huku yakiongozana na misururu ya walaji.
            Tena kabla ya kusahau, mama Maria siku hizi anazeeka kiasi cha kushindwa kuhudhuria baadhi ya sherehe. Hata hivyo, bado wamo si haba pamoja na umri kushuhudia. Naona unatikisa kichwa. Usifanye wivu hasa ikizingatiwa kuwa huyu ni bibi yangu. Hayo ya wajukuu tuyaache.
            Mwalimu, sasa niruhusu kwa heshima nikupe salama za walevi wako wa justice. Wanakumiss ile mbaya. Hakuna siku inayopita bila kukumbuka. Mwalimu, huwezi kuamini kuwa umaarufu wako unapanda kwa kasi kiasi cha kuwapita wengi wa walio hai hasa wale waliobomoa mema yako yote uliyoanzisha tokana na ima ubinafsi, ujinga au upogo. Hapa ninapoandika, wengine wanalindwa na kifua cha munene. Vinginevyo, wangekuwa wakinonihino kule Keko kama siyo Segerea.
            Mwalimu, good news ni kwamba yale madini uliyokuwa umegoma kuchimba wakaja wakora wakayachimba na kuyagawa kama peremende sasa yanaanza kuwafaa walevi. Haka ka kijana ka Joni kameamua kufumua mikataba yote ya kipuuzi ili lau walevi tunufaike na mawe yetu kama ulivyoona mbali. Basi Mwalimu, baada ya kajamaa kutia timu ikulu si kalianzisha mchakato wa kufumua mikataba yote. Wengi wa waliofanya upuuzi huu wanaishi tumbo moto wasijue nini kitawatokea kesho yake.
            Je unakumbuka ile kashfa ya IpTL? Yule nshomile na gabacholi waliojiona kuwa serikali ndani ya serikali sasa wanaozea korokoroni baada ya Ka-Joni kuamua wapewe haki yao. Siku hizi kuna heshima kama zama za utawala wako. Mafisadi hawatukogi kama ilivyokuwa baadaye.
             Mwalimu, unaweza kuamini kuwa siku hizi kugeuza ofisi za umma nyenzo ya kuombea rushwa na kupiga domo ni historia?  Mambo yamebadilika. Hata wale walioghushi sifa za kitaaluma, japo si wote kutokana na baadhi wachache kukikingiwa kifua, wanalia na kusaga meno. Hata hivyo, zoezi hili lilikufa ghafla baada ya kitoto kimoja chenye kujikomba kwa munene kubainika kilighushi vyeti, hivyo, kufanya akikingie kifua na kuamua kuachana na kuwasaka vilaza na vihiyo wengine.
            Mwalimu, miaka 18 si haba. Tangu uondoke mambo mengi yametokea mojawapo ikiwa ni kutimia kwa ndoto yako ya kuhamia Dodoma. Ninapoandika, wizara karibia zote zishahamia huko. Ngoja, nilitaka kusahau. Una habari kuwa siku hizi Dar  na Mwanza zina flyovers zile tulizokuwa tukizisikia Nairobi? To make things worse, kuna daraja la kuunganisha Feri na Kigamboni na linaitwa Nyerere.
            Kwa vile mhariri amenipa nafasi finyo, naomba Mwalimu niachie hapa kwa machache toka mjini niliyokujulisha. Muhimu, tunakupenda; tunakukumbuka na kukumisi kichizi na kinomi mwalimu.  Kwa leo ni hayo. Basi piga mbonji peponi milele mwalimu.

Reflecting on the legacy of Mwalimu Julius Nyerere

October 14, 1999, Tanzania lost its founder the late Mwl Julius Kambarage Nyerere at Guy’s and St. Thomas Hospital in London. Now, it is 18 years since Mwalimu or teacher as ,he’s famously known, sadly and untimely passed on. In pondering on Mwalimu’s legacies, as we celebrate his exemplary and unique life, it is better to wholeheartedly and thankfully bring him back to our memories and prayers. The crème de la crème per se, small man with a big heart; and, above all, unparalleled virtuous man; yet a mountain-like leader, no doubt; Nyerere contributed superbly and enormously to Tanzania and Africa in general. Due to such unrivaled makings, sans doute, his persona and stature have glowingly been growing exponentially as they days go by so as to outpower some living leaders. His shoes, too, have grown so big that nobody can slink and fit in. This is Nyerere I commemorate. I must admit from the outset. It is not easy and possible to enumerate Nyerere’s good deeds as opposed to his shortfalls despite their good intent.
            In commemorating Mwalimu, I’d like to revisit his shinning heirlooms though in a nutshell.  Who’s Mwalimu Nyerere? He’s Tanzania’s first honest and selfless president who truthfully and practically said what he did and did what he said.  Despite ruling Tanzania for 24 years, Nyrere left no hanging cloud over his people. He died a pauper by today’s standard when presidency is a very money-spinning business that makes freebooters, their families, friends and hangers-on filthly rich. For Mwalimu, nothing was important like seeing Africa being liberated from the fangs and pangs of colonialism, injustice and all criminality that made it stroppy in all spheres of life. Practically, Mwalimu fought for the dream of an independent Africa. His was to see Africa being freed from diseases, ignorance, injustices and poverty which he vehemently fought.
            Secondly, Nyerere wanted a united Africa. He tirelessly tried to actualise and realise this dream to no avail thanks to his bit-by-bit approach as opposed to his counterpart Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Ghana’s founder who desired and worked for a single-stroke one. However, despite his fiasco in actualising his dream for Africa, he left us with a token in the Union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar that gave birth to the current United Republic of Tanzania (URT) the only existing and exemplary union in Africa.
            Thirdly, Mwalimu fought and established an egatalirian society that did not have evils such as tribalism, greed, and holier than thou. He established Ujamaa na Kujitegemea or African Socialism and Self-reliance. Under his rule, Tanzania was a shining star thanks to his probity, intellect and insight. As a leader, Nyerere introduced free social services to his citizen in order to make sure that they all moved equally and together which Tanzania lost after Nyerere willingly relinquishing power in 1985 after Mwalimu admitted that his policies had failed. Again, did his policies fail? Not at all; they were sabotaged by internal and external capitalistic and imperialistic enemies who didn’t get an opportunity bully and exploit Tanzania as they deemed fit back then under Nyerere's watch.  Many Tanzanians, particularly his party the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) beseeched him to soldier on; but he told them that he was not ready to turn back and become a biblical pillar of salt to which the wife of Lot, Ado or Esther, turned into after turning back contrary to God’s instructions as they escaped from a wicked Sodom.
            Before retiring, Nyerere admonished Tanzanians to pull together. However, soon thereafter, things changed dramatically and negatively. Slowly, the lust for illicit wealth became a norm. The story is very long. For, three regimes that followed after Mwalimu’s corrupted and destroyed almost everything Nyerere stood and lived for. Some of his successors started to illicitly accumulate wealth so as to make the gap between the haves and the have-nots to grow exponentially. It reached a point at which many Tanzania wished Nyerere would have soldiered on. Corruption became legalised through the back door while ethics was replaced with ineptitude, greed and venality.  However, if Nyerere were to raise from the dead today, at least, he would be happy due to the arrival of the current president John Pombe Magufuli who seems to readjust Tanzania back to the right direction shall he stay the course.

            Nyerere was referred to as a benevolent dictator under whose rule democracy was stifled. So, too, Nyerere has a role in some of the noes that transpired after vacating from office. One of them is his superimposition of his handpicked candidate in the 1995 general elections who ended up betraying him and his cause. Notably, Nyerere saved the country from one evil to end up settling on another. Apart from that, Nyerere’s name will always be embossed in gold as far as the history of the liberation of Tanzania and Africa is concerned. RIP Julius Kambarage Nyerere Burito a true son of Africa. Tunapoadhimisha miaka 18 ya kifo cha Mwl Nyerere

            Wiki hii ni ya kuadhimsha miaka 18 tangu baba wa taifa Mwl Julius Kambarage Nyerere atutoke hapo tarehe 14 Oktoba, 1999 huko mjini London Uingereza. Kwa wale waliozaliwa kipindi hicho, sasa ni watu wazima wanaoweza kupiga kura na kufanya baadhi ya mambo kama watu wazima kwa mujibu wa sheria.
            Watanzania wengi wenye miaka kuanzia 35 wanamkumbuka Mwalimu Nyerere kama nguli wa siasa aliyotoa mchango mkubwa si kwa Tanzania tu bali Afrika yote. Kiongozi mwenye maadili na asiye na makuu wala ubinafsi, mwalimu Nyerere anaingia kwenye vitabu vya historia kama kiongozi aliyejua alichokuwa akifanya hasa yanapokuja masuala ya uadilifu, uwajibikaji, usawa, na haki kati ya mengi. Kwani aliyahubiri haya na kuyaishi tofauti na wasanii wengine wanaotumia siasa kama nafasi ya kujitajirisha. Katika makala hii ya kumbukumbu ya Mwl Nyerere nitajikita kwenye sifa binafsi kama kiongozi. Sitaingia kwenye mambo aliyofanya. Kwani, nafasi haiwezi kutosha.
            Mosi, kama baba, mume na kiongozi wa familia, mwalimu Nyerere aliwalea watoto wake na taifa katika maadili aliyohimiza. Hadi sasa, hakuna mtoto wa Nyerere tajiri, au mwanasiasa aliyepata mafanikio au nafasi ya kisiasa tokana na jina la baba yake au kusukiwa na baba yake kama wengi waliotamalaki kwa sasa iwe kwenye ubunge, ubalozi, uwaziri, na vyeo vingine kwa sababu baba zao walikuwa wakubwa.
            Pili, kama mwanaume na mume, Nyerere aliishi na kuondoka bila doa lolote la ufuska ambapo baadhi ya viongozi hutumia madaraka kujipatia rushwa za kimapenzi huku wakitoa zawadi za vyeo kwa nyumba zao ndogo. Hili linajidhihirisha kwenye uteuzi wake ambao mara nyingi haukulalamikiwa na yeyote kutokana na kujiepusha na ukabila, urafiki, ukaribu au ulipaji fadhila. Kila mwalimu alipomteua mteule wake, alihakikisha anachujwa na historia yake inawekwa wazi kupitia vyombo vya habari. Ni bahati mbaya; siku hizi uadilifu umetoweka. Kwani, si ajabu kusikia fulani kateuliwa kwenye nafasi fulani ya umma bila kusikia wala wahusika kuwa tayari kuweka wazi historia ya mhusika.  Tulifikia mahali hata viongozi wakawa wanasafiri kwa fedha ya umma na watu wasiojulikana majina yao baada ya kuanzisha mtindo wa kuyaficha. Matokeo yake, sasa tunao wateule wenye mabaka kuanzia walioghushi au kutumia vyeti vya wengine huku wakizidi kulindwa na kusifiwa wakati na wahalifu wasio na maadili.
            Tatu, mwalimu Nyerere alikufa maskini ikilinganishwa na viongozi wa wakati ule hata wa sasa ambao kwao siasa na mtaji wa kujitajirisha wao, wake, watoto, warambaviatu wao na marafiki zao. Kwa Nyerere, hili halikuingia akilini. Aliishi na kufanana na wale aliowaongoza huku akipambana kuhakikisha pengo kati ya walio nacho na wasio nacho linazibika. Kwa tunaokumbuka kijumba chake cha Butiama, tunafahamu namna alivyojengewa nyumba yake ya pili ambayo hata hivyo, alilazimika kuipokea na hukuishi mle hata kwa mwaka.
            Nne, Nyerere alikuwa muadilifu wa kupigiwa mfano. Hakuendekeza urafiki wala kujuana. Hata pale marafiki zake walipopatikana na hatia ya kukiuka maadili, alikuwa mkali kama pili pili. Rejea alivyoamuru kuchapwa bakora rafiki yake na waziri wake marehemu Abdallah Fundikira pale alipobainika kuwa alikuwa amepokea rushwa. Hata baada ya kumpa adhabu hii, Mwalimu aliwatangazia watanzania bila kujali ni aibu gani angepata muathirika. Kimsingi, alitaka huu uwe mfano na onyo kwa watanzania.
            Tano, Nyerere alikuwa msomi aliyeelimika na wa kupigiwa mfano. Licha ya kusoma hadi kuwa na shahada ya uzamili, alijisomea sana, kuandika na kuelimisha kila alipopata nafasi. Ni nadra sana kuona kazi zenye kuingia akilini za kitaaluma na kisera za wale waliomfuatia. Kimsingi, Nyerere alikuwa mtu aliyekombolewa na elimu kiasi cha kutaka iwakomboe na wengine. Ndiyo maana, baada ya kupata uhuru, aliamua kutoa elimu, afya na huduma nyingine kwa watanzania wote kwa usawa akitumia vizuri kodi zao.
            Sita, Mwalimu Nyerere alipenda sana haki na usawa kiasi cha kutotaka kutendewa tofauti na wale aliowaongoza. Mbali na kutoruhusu watoto na mke wake watumie cheo chake kujineemesha kwa njia yoyote, mwalimu aliwasomesha watoto wake nyumbani sawa na watanzania maskini aliowaongoza tofauti na waliomfuatia ambao walisifika kwa kusomesha watoto wao nje ukiondoa rais John Magufuli ambaye, kwa kiasi fulani, amefuata mfano wa Nyerere kwa kutoruhusu mkewe kuibia au kuutumia umma kwa kuwa na Asasi Isiyo ya Kiserikali au NGO ambayo baadhi ya wake waliomfuata walitumia kujitengenezea utajiri na umaarufu bila stahiki kutokana na kuwa na  kulala kitanda kimoja na rais.
            Saba, mwalimu Nyerere hakuwa muongo wala msanii. Alisema ukweli hata kama ulikuwa ukiudhi. Rejea alivyowaambia ukweli wakati akitangaza vita ya kumg’oa nduli Idi Amin imla na muuaji wa zamani wa Uganda kuwa vita hii ingeumiza uchumi wa Tanzania kiasi cha wananchi kuwa na maisha magumu kama ilivyokuja kutokea.
            Mwisho, Nyerere alikuwa mzalendo wa kupigiwa mfano. Aliheshimika na anaendelea kuheshimika kutokana na sifa hii. Si utani. Leo ukiweka jina la Nyerere kwenye kura, atawashinda wengi walio hai kutokana na sifa chache kati ya nyingi, nilizotaja hapo juu.
            Kwa ufupi, huyu ndiyo Mwl Julius Nyerere, kiongozi mahiri na mtaua ambaye ni wachache wanaoweza kuwa kwenye daraja lake duniani. Mungu ilaze pema roho ya mpendwa na baba yetu Mwl. Julius Kambarage Nyerere.

Kijiwe chaadhimisha miaka 18 ya kifo cha mzee Mchonga

Kila mtu anashangaa. Kwani, licha ya kutoonyesha usomi, Mgoshi, hajawahi kuja na hata kipande cha gazeti kijiweni. Kila mtu anashangaa kugundua kuwa kumbe Mgoshi ni bonge la mbukuzi tena mwenye maktaba yake iliyosheheni vitabu bab kubwa!
            Kama vile amesoma mawazo yetu, Mgoshi anajisifia. “najua wengi minashangaa kuona Mgoshi nimebeba tabu kubwa tena la msomi mkubwa kama mzee Mchongameno mwana wa Musa. Msikonde. Siyo azima tiseme kia tinachofanya. Cha mno nataka tikae kama kamati ya kijiwe na kumduusu huyu ngui japo tionyeshe, heshima, kumbukumbu na mapenzi yetu kwake. Au shiyo?”
            Msomi anayeoonyesha kufurahia kitendo cha Mgoshi anaamua kula mic “Mgoshi leo umenifurahisha kweli kweli. Huyu nguli na msomi mwenzetu namkubali. Nimesoma karibu maandishi yake yote. Huyu bwana hakuwa kiumbe wa ulimwengu huu; na alikuja kabla ya wakati wake. Umenikumbusha mbali sana. Umenirudisha kwenye zama ambapo usomi ulikuwa mali na si ufisadi, wizi, na uuzaji bwibwi kama ilivyokuja kuwa baada ya mzee Mchonga kutundika daruga. Zama zile uongozi hakukuwa utawala bali uongozi. Kiongozi alifanana wale aliowaongoza bila kujali kama wanakubaliana na mawazo yake au la.”
            Kabla ya kuendelea Kanji anakula mic “hata mimi iko penda na hesimu sana hii giji hata kama nataifisa mali nyingi ya hindi. Hii zee iko tofauti. Iko sawa na Gandhi. Iko nafanya mambo kubakuba sana kwa taifani hii.”
            Kabla ya kuendelea, Mijjinga anamkwapua Kanji mic na kuzoza “Kanji, huwezi kumlinganisha mzee Mchonga na Gandhi aliyesifika kwa ubaguzi. Mlinganishe na Nelson Lolihlahla Madiba Mandela Dalibunga, Osegafyo Kwame Nwia Kofi Nkrumah, Seretse Goitsebeng Maphiri Khama, Ernesto che Guevara na magwiji wengine lakini siyo na mbaguzi aliyewabuga waafrika tena nchini mwao kule Afrika Kusini akidai kupewa haki ya kuwa tofauti na waafrika aliwaita makafiri.”
            Kabla ya kuendelea Mchunguliaji anachomekea “Du Mijjinga kumbe wewe ni tabu la historia! Unawataja majina utadhani wadogo zako! Ama kweli kusoma ukaelimika raha!”
            Kapende naye anaamua kutia guu “nakubaliana nawe Mijjinga. Mzee Mchonga hawezi kulinganishwa na Gandhi. Kufanya hivyo, ni kumdhalilisha hasa ikizingatiwa kuwa hakuwa mbaguzi wala msanii. Anyway, hayo tuyaache. Mie ningependa kumkumbuka na kumdurusu mzee Mchonga kama kiongozi ambaye hakuwa mwoga wala mbabaishaji. Alipenda sana kukosolewa ilmradi anayefanya hivyo awe na hoja nzito na zenye mashiko. Akitokea mtu wa namna hii mzee Mchonga alizoea kumjibu kwa hoja nzito na zenye mashiko. Nadhani watu kama totoTundu Lissu wangekuwapo wakati wa mzee Mchonga wala wasingechukiwa wala kumiminiwa shaba.  Kitu muhimu kilichofanya nimgwaye mzee Mchonga ni kupenda haki na usawa. Yeye hakuwa na rafiki zaidi ya wabongo. Hakuwa tayari kumkingia kifua mhalifu yoyote kama ilivyokuja kutokea baada ya kuachia madaraka. Unadhani huu ungekuwa wakati wa mzee Mchongo mizigo kama Bashit na wababaishaji kama yule mchunaji Gwajimmy wangepata muda wa kutanua na kutanuliana wakati wote wana madoa? Thubutu!”
            “usinikumbushe huyu baba ambaye aliheshimu kila mtu. Bila yeye wala mimi nisingepata hii elimu, hata  kama ni haba, niliyo nayo. Bila yeye baba na mama yangu wasingejua kusoma na kuandika. Nani mara hii kasahau elimu ya watu wazima aka ngumbaru? Mungu iweke peponi roho ya baba yetu mzee Musa Mchonga Nyerere.” Anasema Sofia Lion aka Kanungaembe. Hata hivyo anashindwa kuendelea kuongea tokana na uchungu kiasi cha kumwaga chozi huku Mbwamwitu akimfariji kwa kumkumbatia.
            Msomi anamchomekea Sofia “dada usinikumbushe nguli huyu. Maana bila yeye hata mimi nisingeweza kupata PhD zote hizi nilizo nazo. Ni nani mtoto wa kapuku kama mimi angeweza kuitwa daktari kama mimi? Ni bahati mbaya. Wengi wa walionufaika na sera na upendo wa nguli huyu wamesahau kila kitu kiasi cha wao kugeuka mafisadi papa kama akina mzee wa Vijisenti, Anae Kajuamlo, Ben Tunituni Makapa na wengine wengi. Inauma na kusikitisha sina mfano.”
            Mpemba anamchomekea Msomi “ami usemacho cha kweli ati. Kwani bila huyu nguli nani angeongelea muungano wa Bara na Visiwani? Wallahi wengine tungekuwa twaendelea kuonekana wageni kwenye nchi yetu kama si huyu maalim Nyerere.”
            Mipawa aliyechelewa kufika, hivyo, akaamua kuisoma mada kwanza anaamua kutoa mchango wake “kusema ukweli, Daganyika haitakaa ipata gwiji kama huyu tena. Maana madini kama haya hutokea mara moja maishani. Hata hivyo, napenda nitofautiane nanyi kidogo kuhusiana na gwiji huyu.             Kabla ya kuendelea mzee Maneno anakula mic “ni kweli aliwaamini mafisi. Je alifanya hivyo kwa nia mbaya au kutoelewa? Tumuache mzee wetu apumzike huku tukisamehe lolote alilotenda ambalo hatukulipenda. Hata hivyo, yeye alikuwa binadamu si malaika. Muhimu tuenzi mema yake yote kama vile kutominya wale aliotofautiana nao mawazo.”
            Kijiwe kikiwa kinanoga si tukaamua twende Butiama kwenda kumpa tafu mama yetu Maria!
