When
former Sudanese dictator Omar Bashir ordered the killing of demonstrators, he
blamed it on 'infiltrators'. As days went by and everything started to go
off kilter, still Bashir maintained the same old song, infiltrators without
mentioning their names or telling what he knew about his infiltrators. Indeed,
the killers of demonstrators were infiltrators sent by Bashir. They were
military men, police and other state operatives who maintained Bashir's regime for thirty good years. Bashir's ouster brought in what is known as Transition Military Council.
After the toppling of Bashir,
after the people's power led by the Force for Changes overcame him, his remnants who disposed him thinking
they would take over and keep receiving orders from him are repeating the same
mistakes and the same song of infiltrators. Like their boss Bashir, they are
accusing infiltrators to have killed demonstrators in the night of 14 May after
forcing their way into the military headquarters where demonstrated have stood
their ground for over a month seeking to form a civilian transitional
government which is completely unacceptable to the military. We all know the
military doesn't want a civilian transitional government. This is because it
can open the lid of their mess and connect dots so as to find the top brass in
the same situation their boss Bashir is in now.
Again, for how long will
Sudanese army keep on repeating the same mistakes hoping to assuage the
situation?
Like Bashir, the army is right
when it is claiming the infiltrators have shot at and killed demonstrators.
Like Bashir, they should expect what befell their hero and boss. Sudan belongs
to Sudanese but not the army or Bashir's remnants. What befell Bashir is likely
to be replicated due to the fact that the military junta is now singing the
same song that Sudanese heard for 30 years of Bashir's autocratic and failed
rule. The allegations that infiltrators are responsible for shooting and
killing demonstrators is archaic and childish. Actually, the book of lies that
maintained Bashir's rule for 30 years has become bankrupt of new lies.
Sudanese have categorically
stated what they need. Nobody else can choose anything different from what they
have been sacrificing for. Sudanese clearly stated that they need a civilian
government that belongs to them. Sudanese are saying clearly that they do not
like any military or theocracy but a secular government that they will have
power over but not to cower under.
Sudanese know that they army
that protected Bashir's stinky rule cannot today purport and pretend
to be their protector while those heading it have the blood of Sudanese on
their hands.
Sudanese will never allow any
more bloodshed or allow their revolution to go Egyptian way. If anything,
Sudanese want their revolution to be theirs but not military's. And looking at
the look of thing, there is nothing that can stop the mass of Sudanese. They indeed
unstoppable and whoever tries to stop them will soon blame himself. Sudanese
clearly know what they want and how they want it. They want democracy, human
rights and above all better life. Sudanese want an accountable and responsible
government of the people, for the people and by the people that will be under
the people of Sudan.
Sudanese clinging junta need to
understand that if they keep on their only tactics Sudan will become
ungovernable. And if this happens, they will pay the same place their boss and
colleague Bashir paid. Nobody can stop an angry and hungry nation like Sudan
today. Sudan is now hungry for justice and democracy and it is angry about how
it has been abused and exploited by a cabal of goons in the upper echelons of
power.
Sudanese are now aware of the role
they are playing not only for their country but also their continent. The
movement they have started will not only be confined in Sudan but instead, it
will spread all over Africa where dictatorships
still thrive. Knowing the role
they are playing, they will never allow anybody to snatch the victory from
their hands. Determined as they have proved to be, Sudanese have nothing left
to lose except their chains. They have already been killed, tortured and above
all, they are used to brutality that has
been ongoing for 30 years. Knowing what they are up to and what they are
into, Sudanese are hellbent to stand for their future, bright future as a
people and a nation.
Long
live Sudan
Long
live revolution
Long
live democracy
