Dear esteemed leaders,
May I humbly address you as real men on whom all Ugandans’ eyes are. I beseech you to face it and do the right thing for yourselves and your country. Thus, I address you as people with power though differently.
Firstly, I fully understand that you all have followers whose ambitions, expectations, and hopes you carry and fight for. May he perish whoever ignores this fact.
Secondly, you’re seasoned politicians/leaders who are supposed to be creative and dependable. If you lack what it takes to resolve your differences creatively and constructively, why should Ugandans keep on trusting you? May I say it point blank. Whoever is an impediment to what I’m to aver, must be viewed as a wrong person to carry even the hopes of animals let alone humans.
Thirdly, I understand. You’re all Ugandans. That’s nothing if one lacks patriotism and trust, which are the qualities that require everybody to do justice to himself and others as the citizens of one country.
Fourthly, just remember. Power is always evanescent. Nobody’ll have it forever despite what. Therefore, whoever abuses or tramples on the humanity and the rights of others must not be in any public office. For, he’s unfit even to herd a herd of wildebeest aka confusion.
Fifthly, you’re all Christians some of whom swear by lifting the Bible. If I go by and with what Christianity commands, your first commandment is love. Thus, you’re dutybound to love each other more than yourselves apart from your ‘enemies’ even in politics. Leaders are role models and teachers. What love do you teach through animosity, injustices, and tortures? I know. You’re not pretenders.

Thus, you must emulate the late Festo Kivengere who loved Idi Amin despite killing his people. He knew too well the dangers of hatred and how foolish and mentally unfit whoever does so for whatever reasons is. Who wants to be such a loser in the afterlife, especially for you Christians, if indeed you truly are?
Mature men don’t fight over what doesn’t belong to them. Refer to the famous song by the Les Wanyika Sina Makosa. Like it’s in this song, power doesn’t belong to you. It only belongs to Ugandans but not to their leaders or ruler. Fighting for what doesn’t belong to you is like fighting over or killing for somebody’s lover or wife while you truly know she doesn’t belong to any of you. Who commits such folly? If you know that, then chuki ya nini ndugu zangu while the lady isn’t yours? Kindly, listen to that song for a reminder.

Sixthly, loving each other is the only means you need to see each other not only as equal but also as people. If indeed what you always say is what you mean and what you mean is what you say, you don’t have any choice but to love and show that you truly do. If indeed you’re the men who are fighting to diligently and selflessly serve the country but not to serve yourselves and your families like one of you once said, it’s only love you need. The rest will fall into place thereafter. If a few people like you can’t iron out your differences or look at each other as humans, how’ll you serve millions of Uganda? Charity always begins at home.
Seventhly, forgive each other so that you can be forgiven. Love each other so that you can be loved. Without loving each other and banking on hating and demolishing each other, nobody’ll succeed. No doubt. If you live by sword, you’ll die by sword. If you live by hatred, you’ll die by it. If you live by lies and manipulations, they’ll one day adversely affect you. Who sows thorns and walk barefoot? Remember that.
Eighthly, it’s utter madness to fight over something you can’t keep or permanently own. Power belongs to the people. Whoever seeks it must understand this and faithfully do and show that. As men of probity, you still have time to take a look in the mirror and do the right thing, especially for those who self-appointed to be the judge while they’re supposed to be judged in the court of public.
Lastly, I truly love you all. Similarly, love each other so that those you portend to seek to serve might love and trust you. That is my message from Canada.
