Letter to Members of Parliament

Dear honourable MPs,

First of all, ‘pole sana ’ for such long and torturous trips from your constituencies. I know. The roads you travel on are another heck. So even your shangingis are likely to be complaining about tough job you gave them to cruise such rotten and potholed road.

For those that had to go via Kampala and Nairobi , thank God for that though it’s a shame.

I humbly seek your leave to bring forward some standing matters that you left the other day you congregated in Dodoma- our inhabitable capital city.

I am writing this letter after attempting to remind some of those responsible for some matters. When I firstly did so, I thought those smart guys would answer my appeal. All ended up in cropper though.

Methinks. You still vividly remember how the minister for Energy and Mineral development hon. William Ngeleja promised you he’d divulge the covert owners of Kiwira Coal Mine. This was supposed to be done during the seating of the 12th Parliament’s session.

This matter is important. I still remember. One of you simply wanted to know who own Kiwira. This question was put to hon. Prime Minister who tossed it to hon. Ngeleja.

Now that the minister did not divulge those mystic creatures at that time, it’s eminently important time he name names if anything.

There is yet another thorny issue of EPA profligacy. It’s time that we do justice to our people. They’ve patiently been waiting to see the mystery behind this mega corruption scam be resolved if not unraveled.

The ball’s still in your court. You’re assuredly promised in the broad day light that this anathema would be dealt with and the government would reveal the names even to name names. We need names and steps to be taken as soon as possible. But as they day go by, nothing is heard! What is the hitch? For how long shall we wait for Godot?

Tanzanians wanted, and still want, to know those mysterious creatures heinously ruining our country.I recently heard that BRELA did erase the ghost known as Richmond . This is a noble step to be taken by the government. I sincerely recommend it. But is this the end of the game? What of those sharks that ushered in this vampire thing? The Wananchi would like to see these creatures behind Richmond behind the bars if anything.

I know. Former Premier Edward Lowassa was water-tightly implicated in Richmond scam so as to be shown the door. What I’ve never stomached is the fact that the same culprit, apart from being awarded retirement fat benefits as if he retired, still seat in our house! To make matter worse, his party ‘cleansed’ him. But is he clean really? Does he deserve to be paid for ruining our country? For those that have never understood how Richmond ruined our country should refer to how our hoi polloi are exploited thanks to hiked prices of power.

Now that you’re the representatives of these suffering hoi polloi, please make sure you address and arrest this anathema. Our people are tired of fibs and claps of ‘we’ll deliver you and good life for everybody is possible’.

Another thing so disturbing that it must be arrested is the whole issue of the nation to join OIC. The other day I heard somebody saying that this is a good thing. The foible reason he gave is that we’ll get some aids from oil rich countries forming this Organization for Islamic Conference.

If this is the motive, this thing should never see the light of the day. We can not develop our country by depending on hand-outs. Neither can we endanger the security of our nation simply because we’re going to be given petrodollars. We don’t need such tainted money gotten by the way of defecating in our constitution that clearly states our country has no religion.

Another thorny issue is the Kadhi court. There’ve been grumblings and rumblings that this court is important. Is it important really? Methinks. Judiciary is the only organ vested with powers to deal with all issues pertaining to giving justice in this country. So its jurisdiction should never been invaded or altered.

By the way, shall the Kadhi court, say, impose a punishment to a person or persons and they negate its verdict, where will they go if not to our high court?

To have judicial powers, one must have other organs such as police and prisons. Where will the honorable Kadhi get these organs without shaking the foundations of our nation?

Mark my words. When it comes to having organs to enforce the laws, think not of Kandoro’s city ganders. They too can show how awkward and dangerous this is. They’ve been accused of stealing from city matching guys.

Another mess is IPTL. We’ve oft-heard that the government intends to purchase IPTL’s loss-making plant. This is after establishing that this dubious company has for long been hiking prices for the nation so as to ruin our economy. Will you please address and arrest this too? PM Mizengo Pinda knows this too well. Who knew that our country would foolishly cough out over three billion shillings where it would pay just Tshs. 50,000? Please don’t let this bulimia go on unabated. Wananchi are tired of these abracadabras.

To avoid consuming your noble time that you would spend getting some nyama choma and moja baridi after long deliberations, please don’t forget the TRL mess that has become another cancer.

I’m told. The government’s already paid over 8,000,000,000 for no reason. You know what. RITES, the guy to whom TRL was privatized, is unable even to pay agreed salaries of its employees! What can such pauper do when it comes to running such essential utility? Stop this madness once and for all.

The last prayer I put before you is the whole issue of our houses that were stolen, sorry, sold under the cloud of suspicions by the former hard-headed regime. Mr. President promised-during the 2005’s campaigns- that he’d return them to us. It’s over two years now. Nothing’s heard! Will you please weigh in to see to it: this hanky panky is stopped and our houses return to us soon?

One last point though not least, 2010 is not far from now. Those stones we heard of in Chunya and the beatings of the CWT president, are but point of reminder that 2010 will be another heck shall all thorny and contentious matters not be arrested and solutions sought. And for my friend Chitaahira (not his name) alleged to have forged your certificates, do you think you’ll make it to ulaji once again? By the way, why is your party defecating in its own pants by protecting you whilst you’re but a criminal?

Again, I humbly seek to wrap up this short note looking forward to seeing all I’ve prayed for being dealt with reasonably and diligently.
Yours truly,

Nkwazi
