Will Donald Trump Get Away with Murder?

Two weeks before the outgoing US president, Donald Trump, vacating the White House, things abruptly and dangerously took a very violent turn. January 6th, 2021 goes down in the history of the United States as one of the grubbiest days of its democracy and supremacy. Sensing that his rule will soon come to an end come January 20th,  Trumps seems hellbent to break all rulebooks for his pointless amusement and daydreaming to see to it that he is not going down without a fight even if doing so means endangering the security of the US. The Capitoline of the US was attacked by Trump's rogue followers. Knowing how the clock is unstoppably ticking, Trump decided to go down dishonourably by organizing attacks on democracy and the US altogether. He canibalised the US so to speak. Or put it this way. Like a chicken, he decided to eat his own eggs (institutions) that he was sworn in to protect and uphold. He organized and encouraged his hoodlums to attack the Capitol Hill, intimidate the representatives of the people and vandalize it needlessly and shamelessly.  Had this happened in an African country aka shithole as per Trump himself, the US would stalwartly condemn and urge those behind it be dealt with timely and quickly.
Importantly, Trump's timing is very interesting. He unleashed his goons at the moment the Capitol Hill when the representatives and senators  were formally conducting  the proceeding for the validation of certification of Biden's victory as the 46th duly elected president of the US that’ll take over from Trump on 20th this month.
One observer called what Trump did a  failed coup attempt; while another referred to it as pure terrorism against the US committed by domestic terrorists hired by Trump to wash his dirty laundry. President-elect Biden called it an insurrection.  Will Trump get away with murder? Will he face the full force of the law after the dust settles? The US has never been this laughably low in the entirety of its history. Trump goes down as a desperado that needs to be dealt with for the sake of preserving national honour and integrity. What will Biden do in response to this  travesty of democracy and justice? Are the mistakes that American voters made surfacing now at the eleventh hour of Trump's maladministration? They were duped so as to vote a monster in the White House. Now, it is mercilessly and shamelessly devouring them. Will they wake up, smell the coffee and retake their country back?  It is not easy to tell what America has sank into at this point and time. The manner and speed this shame unfolded is stunning. All and above all, Trump has ruined the US big time. Will this assault to democracy (by what many media house called domestic terrorists),  the citadel of power  (as per President-Elect Biden) and its institutions go unpunished really? What precedent will be set shall Trump get away with murder? What are the ramifications for America’s stand globally?
Before attacking the Capitol Hill, Trump was quoted as telling his hoodlums “we will never give up. We will never concede. It will never happen" (The Los Angeles Times, 6 Jan, 2021)." To make matters worse, Trump chastised his hangers-on to “show strength” and “fight” for his cause. And indeed, they brazenly did. Trump has clung unto his  farfetched claims that he won elections with a landslide. However, the truth on the ground is that Trump lost elections fair and square. He filed legal challenges the country over and lost all of them, 66 in total.  Despite that, Trump still shamelessly alleges that election was stolen without adducing any evidence. People privy to the White House have gone far so as to question Trump's   state of mind at the moment. Although he is erratic naturally, the defeat seems to have demolished his sanity so as not to be able to run a country. That's why there are calls that his vice president Mike Pence be legally allowed to take over from him.
After finding that the situation was getting out control,  President-Elect Biden stood up asking Trump to disband his goons as the only deserved means of halting this violent mayhem. Sensing the danger his actions posed, Trump actually had to bite the bullet, swallow his pride and ask his goons to go home ‘in peace.’ And they heeded his appeal. This shows how they were sent to carry out attacks on democracy and the US altogether. Despite disbanding his hoodlums, the dent had been already made to Trump and the US thereof. Evidentially, Trump had already proved how incapable he is to rule the US even for only two left for his regime to come to its constitutional end. Who would believe that two weeks to the end of his residence in the White House, Trump would cause the spill of blood of an American he sworn to protect wherein one woman died of gun wounds? What difference does this have from any blood spilled by terrorism?  What a shame for the country that prides itself of being the leader of the free world! Although the world will always blame Trump on his megalomania, mischiefs and power hunger, what transpired recently reveals US's underbelly so to speak
For the first in the history of their country, Americans pointlessly defecated and desecrated on their symbol of power, the Capitol Hill. I am trying to image what former Zimbabwe strongman Robert Mugabe would have said had he witnessed such collective criminality committed by those self-appointed teachers of democracy globally. I am still anxiously waiting to hear what the like of Iranian theocracy will say about this disgrace and infamy when the US press them to introduce democracy in their country. Will the US remain the same? What will it do to salvage its lost pride?
One thing that US voters didn't know when they voted for Trump as their president is that they didn't know they were setting their country to the path of either third world or a failed country. How on earth do people take over the Capitol Hill the symbol of US hegemony? Will Americans allow Trump to remain in the White House for remaining two weeks which seems to be too much for such a desperado? Will they recall him quickly in order to save their democracy?
Many world leaders have strongly condemned what transpired in Washington. However, Africa has become an exception to the general rule. No African leader condemned the insurgence in the US. Why? Soon, we'll know.
